General Qualification for All Crew Members

  1. Minimum Age: Usually 21 years old (varies by cruise line and position).
  2. Valid Passport: Required for international travel.
  3. Valid SIRB (Seaman Book:Required for Cruise ship job.
  4. STCW Certification: Basic Safety Training (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping) is mandatory for most positions.
  5. Seafarer Medical Certificate: Must pass a medical exam proving fitness to work at sea.
  6. Visa Requirements: Depending on the cruise line’s itinerary, a C1/D visa (for U.S. ports) or other work visas may be required.
  7. Experience & Skills: Previous experience in hospitality, maritime and 5-star hotel minimum 3-5 years.
  8. English Proficiency: English is commonly required, and additional language skills can be an advantage.
  9. Clean Background Check: Some cruise lines require a background check.
